8 Sneaky Small Space Solutions

Some small space solutions you've probably heard before: make your furniture multitask! Buy lots of mirrors to amplify light! Get rid of everything you own! But there are a few more ideas that are a little bit off the beaten path, and in this post we've endeavored to bring you a few of those.

Above: For a little extra storage, mount a shelf just below the ceiling along the length of a room. If your ceilings are tall enough, you'll barely notice it. This works especially well in a hallway, as spotted on Hus & Hem.

Little end tables and stools are nice to have when you need a space to park a drink or plate, but they can also clutter up a room. When you're not using them, park smaller tables under larger ones, as in this room from Domaine Home.

If you have a free floating couch, add a console behind for a little extra storage. Spotted on Tages Anzeiger.

Make use of the space above your radiator with wall mounted shelves. From 79 Ideas.

Try wall mounted shelves or a bookcase behind the couch, like blogger Joanna Goddard did in her living room. You'll only lose a little floor space, and you'll gain a ton of storage. Of course, the bottom shelves should be devoted to things you don't need to access that often.

A wall mounted desk (like this one spotted on SF Girl by Bay) can save a little space over a traditional freestanding one.

If you don't have room for end tables or nightstands, try simple shelves mounted to the wall, as seen on Desire to Inspire.

Try two smaller tables in place of a coffee table, like Caitlyn did in her San Francisco apartment. Smaller tables are much more versatile and can be moved around to wherever you need them.

What are your sneaky small space solutions?
