Hey, guys! I designed a living room for country singer and songwriter, Kacey Musgraves, and I am so excited to share the full tour with you today!
My first interaction with Kacey was so random but cool and worth sharing. It was a couple years ago before I moved to Nashville. I was already a fan of her music at the time. And one day I was scrolling back to my old (OLD) Instagram photos from, like, five years ago. I was looking at one photo, and I noticed some crazy comments that I had no memory of. Scrolling through them was pretty cringe worthy. It was basically just a bunch of people critiquing my appearance (always fun!), and then I saw a comment from Kacey, defending me! I think what it said was “little people belittle people”. This was years before I ever met her, but from that moment forward, I knew I wanted to be her friend because any woman who takes on another woman’s Internet trolls is an instant friend in my book!
Fast forward, this past summer I invited Kacey and her sister, Kelly, over to my house for craft day. And after hanging out for, like, five minutes, she invited me to help her decorate her new Nashville home. Now, I’ve never aspired to decorate other people’s homes (it’s scary!), but just this once I knew I had to take the leap because Kacey’s style is so inspiring. We have a lot of similar influences, but her style is much more western-inspired than mine—which I love so much! Long story short—I was shopping on eBay for brass horse shoes and cacti within hours. Haha!
We created a sitting area around the fireplace and added built-in shelves on either side. I whipped up a super simple tapestry for above the fireplace (I’ll share more details on that in another post soon). We picked the biggest rug the room could fit to anchor the space, added a rustic coffee table and filled the space with plants.
The brass chandelier gives the room so much personality! You guys know I have a major soft spot for gold and brass, so I was really happy Kacey wanted to go in that direction.
This hanging plant shelf is an ABM DIY, find it here. Isn’t that plant the cutest thing?
I felt really lucky when I found these white leather chairs with the perfect cowgirl details. Adorable.
It cannot be overstated how much I LOVE. THIS. SOFA.
It’s a pink dream.
The record station is my favorite part of the room. We custom made these cactus marquee lights and displayed them above the turntable. We painted the inside of the cabinet where the records are kept pink just to add a pop of color.
I customized a U-Turn Audio turntable with tiny gold cacti for a subtle, but fun, personalization.
Thank you so much for reading, you guys! I’m going to embed a couple of Kacey’s songs here in case some of you haven’t heard them yet. Even though, I know from Instagram that a LOT of you are already super fans!
